9 Year Old Singing Sensation Opens Up Today's Belmont

Big Brown may have come in dead last today at the Belmont, but the winner definitely was 9-year-old Anthony Gargiula who sang the National Anthem and New York, New York on ABC.  I'm sure the video will be posted soon!

Belmont Stakes 2008 with Big Brown - Anthony Asked to Sing National Anthem!

Anthony, at age 9,  was asked to sing the National Anthem at the Belmont Stakes onBelmont2008 June 7, 2008 in Belmont, New York.

The Anthem will be televised on ESPN.  He will also sing New York New York from the winners circle right before the actual Belmont Stakes race.  That will be televised nationwide on ABC somewhere around 6:00pm EST.

Anthony and his family will be going to Belmont on June 6th to do a dress rehearsal and sound check with the ESPN and ABC camera people as well as being in a parade that evening.

This all came to pass because a NYRA representative saw Anthony sing this past August at the Saratoga Race Track.  Anthony is very excited about this opportunity and can not wait to share his gift with an audience nationwide which is estimated to be in the millions.

Anthony's Dad says, "Once Big Brown won the second leg of the triple crown, we knew all eyes would be on Belmont.  We are honored that Anthony was asked to sing on such a special occasion and we hope Big Brown will win the Triple Crown!"

It should prove to be yet another amazing step along the path of Anthony's already successful career.
