Legal Help Needed For Jaliek Rainwalker

Jaliek Rainwalker

So, I just got off the phone with my favorite alleged vigilante grandmother, Barbara Reeley.  You may have read yesterday that she was arrested for allegedly breaking into her daughter's abandoned home to look for any clues surrounding Jaliek Rainwalker's disappearance.  News reports indicated she went looking for evidence (although we didn't talk about that so no subpoenas please!) and may have turned up a clue.  She will appear in court August 5.

But on to the legal help.  Barbara and her husband Dennis tried to get custody of Jaliek, while he's missing, so they would have the parental access to a variety of records she thinks would help the case.  As you may know, Jaliek's adoptive parents, which include Barbara's own daughter, have done less than nothing to find the missing 12-year-old.  They didn't win in court because there appears to be no precedent for grandparents seeking custody of a missing child.  That's where you may be able to help.  If you know of a case that would help justify turning custody of Jaliek over to his grandparents, please contact Barbara.  Her contact information including email can be found here.

A positive development though...someone called in a possible sighting of Jaliek in the Albany, New York area.  Police are reviewing surveillance tapes to see if indeed the boy is Jaliek.  That would be terrific news.  Jaliek turns 13 in a couple of weeks.

I'll be back in touch with Barbara after her court appearance to update you.
