Update: Missing Billy Smolinksi--Mom Being Sued

The search Billy Smolinski, the Waterbury man who has been missing since 2004 has been in the news of late with a massive dig over the summer. Unfortunately, nothing came of it. His mom, Jan was arrested for posting missing person flyers on a pole (case was dismissed) and still faces a lawsuit from Billy's ex-girlfriend, who bizarrely followed Jan around and tore down the posters. Below is Jan's update:

You did write about the big dig in Seymour, Connecticut on the farm back in August on the seventh day they covered up the huge hole the local, state and federal police dug. No signs of his remains yet. The house search followed the dig than taking the truck into custody.

Did you know BEFORE the FBI took the case over I was arrested by the Woodbridge PD as a criminal? why? Basically for hanging a flyer of my son on a public telephone pole near a school but on the pole next to my sons flyer was a picture of a missing cat. I was finger printed and a mug shot. Never had a parking ticket or anything in my entire life.

I had my choice of Superior court date.  When I went to court there were other charges of disorderly conduct and paintballing 2 school buses that were later proved false by an investigative reporter.
The officer that actually called my house and said you have two days to turn yourself in as a criminal or when you are in town you will be handcuffed and brought in. Hummmm the arresting officer after I was fingerprinted and mug shot walked me out to my husband and daughter waiting and apologized saying they needed to stick together in the department.

My charges were dropped in court.

The reason the police gave for my arrest was they wanted to defuse the situation. This is absurd my son is missing a probable homicide and they are trying to defuse the situation??

This is like the twilight zone, never ceases to amaze me--- the lawsuit against my daughter, myself and journalist John Murray is still pending http://www.angelfire.com/ct3/unsolvedct/thinking.html

While my husband Bill and I were in Colorado back in October, I was keynote at a meeting for missing persons and homicides, NBC was in Connecticut filming, when we returned they interviewed us. The show called "Vanished" will be aired sometime in early spring. It will be an hour show about the case.

We never know what is going to take place from day to day. All I know we are never giving up. I am totally involved trying to change things along with others, when it comes to the missing and unidentified. Our country needs change, the technology is here we need to implement and connect the dots.

The Waterbury PD lost or misplaced three samples drawn for my daughter and me on three different occasions within a two year period.  The FBI took the fourth collection two years ago and finally it was entered into the national database (CODIS) The case is a total mess, the Waterbury PD ignored our cries for help and it was a constant everyday uphill battle all along.

So far the results on the truck forensics have not been released we are still waiting since October 7.
