It didn't take long before a reader in Guatemala checked in to read the latest about Lilly Aramburo, the Miami mother who has been missing for nearly a year.

Guatemala (Spanish: República de Guatemala, Spanish pronunciation: [reˈpuβlika ðe ɣwateˈmala]) is a country in Central America bordered by Mexico to the northwest, the Pacific Ocean to the southwest, Belize and the Caribbean Sea to the northeast, and Honduras and El Salvador to the southeast.

A representative democracy, its capital is Guatemala City. The nation has been relatively stable since 1996 and has been in a state of continuous development and economic growth. Guatemala's abundance of biologically significant and unique ecosystems contribute to Mesoamerica's designation as a biodiversity hotspot.^[1]

Culture

Guatemala City is home to many of the nation’s libraries and museums, including the National Archives, the National Library, and the Museum of Archeology and Ethnology, which has an extensive collection of Maya artifacts. There are private museums, such as the Ixchel, which focuses on textiles, and the Popol Vuh, which focuses on Mayan archeology. Both museums are housed inside the Universidad Francisco Marroquín campus.

Literature

The Guatemala National Prize in Literature is a one-time only award that recognizes an individual writer's body of work. It has been given annually since 1988 by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Miguel Angel Asturias, won the Literature Nobel Prize in 1967. Among his most famous books is "El Señor Presidente", a novel based on the government of Manuel Estrada Cabrera.

Music

The Music of Guatemala comprises a number of styles and expressions. The Maya had an intense musical practice, as is documented by iconography. Guatemala was also one of the first regions in the New World to be introduced to European music, from 1524 on. Many composers from the Renaissance, baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary music styles have contributed works of all genres, of very high quality. The marimba is the national instrument that has developed a large repertoire of very attractive pieces that have been popular for more than a century. The Historia General de Guatemala has published a series of CDs of historical Music of Guatemala, in which every style is present, from the Maya, colonial period, independent and republican eras to current times.

Miami Media Stepping Up For Missing Mother

In the underbelly of ZeroGossip.com is the forum where many people go to discuss various topics. It's there I learned this. It was posted by "January" and it looks like the Miami Herald is taking an interest in Lilly Aramburo. Friends and family will gather June 1, the day before the year anniversary of Lilly's strange disappearance. More info comes in daily on the forum under the Lilly Aramburo section.

Just got a reply from the Miami Herald regarding writing a story on Lilly!!! Wants me to call them on Monday, says they want to help!

Here's a copy of the letter I had sent out yesterday which was replied to...

Subject: Lucely "Lilly" Aramburo, Missing and Forgotten in Miami

Lucely "Lilly" Aramburo is only one of the many missing and forgotten persons in Miami. However, from being from a journalism background myself, I'd like to fill you in a bit on what makes Lilly's case in particular one so very worth covering.

* Lilly was a former child star from the popular program Sabado Gigante. * Lilly's case was not submitted until 2 weeks after it was reported, seemingly due to a dectective's vacation and low priority/care factor level.
* Lilly has a beautiful little boy, Palden, now living with Lilly's Mother, who cries each and every day for his Mommy.
* Lilly had recently become a new Christian, dedicated her life to Jesus, entered herself into rehab and was full of joy and hope for a healthy future.
* Lilly's fiance, Christen Pacheco, says that Lilly walked out of his apartment at 2:00am with nothing more than 2 bungee cords to go pick flowers.
* Lilly's "friend" Kelly Starling has a MySpace page that includes a blog entry entitled "Lillie is a Monster" in which she lashes out thoughts of violent rage towards Lilly.
* Lilly's fiance, Christen and "friend" Kelly were the last ones to see her and whom reported her, 24 plus hours later missing, setting up a seemingly suicide scenario.
* Christen was not even questioned by the LE until 6 months after Lilly went missing, despite urgent pleas from Lilly's family who believe he should be a main suspect.
* Lilly's 1 year Vigil is being held on June 1st, 2008, a new missing persons local Miami organization has been started on her behalf in order to help other missing persons in Miami as well.
* The internet is steadily becoming on fire to spread the news about this missing young Mother, yet no other form of local media has yet to cover her story.
* With media coverage the possibilities to help so many more individuals in the Miami area are endless, but we need a compassionate journalist to share Lilly's story in order to really get the ball rolling, I think that compassionate individual is you.

American Idol Turmoil: David A.'s Dad Banned

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Backstage meddling has caught up "American Idol" favorite David Archuleta's dad, who's been banned from rehearsals, a person working for the TV talent contest said Friday.

Jeff Archuleta was told this week by producers that he can no longer join 17-year-old son as David as he prepares for the show, the person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. The person wasn't authorized to comment publicly and spoke on the condition of anonymity.

The show's action was first reported Friday by the online Web site TMZ.

David Archuleta of Murray, Utah, is one of three contestants left as the top-rated Fox show heads toward the Jan. 20-21 finale. The fresh-faced teenager with the big voice has consistently been deemed a front-runner by the judges and been a consistent fan favorite.

Jeff Archuleta's intense backstage involvement had become a source of concern for the series, the person connected with "American Idol" said - but it was a lyric change on Tuesday's show that pushed producers to act.

Despite a warning, Jeff Archuleta insisted on altering "Stand by Me," one of two songs his son sang on the show Tuesday. By adding a verse from Sean Kingston's "Beautiful Girls," the father incurred additional costs for "American Idol," the person said.

Fox declined comment. Attempts to reach Jeff Archuleta for comment were unsuccessful. A phone number listed under his name in Murray, Utah, was no longer in service, and Fox did not immediately respond to a request Friday evening for help in contacting the family.

Earlier Friday, David Archuleta was honored at a hometown celebration held at his high school in Murray, during which Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman declared "David Archuleta Day."

The singer and his family declined to be interviewed at the event, but David Archuleta did speak with the Salt Lake City Fox affiliate, KSTU-TV. "Wow," he exclaimed as he viewed the cheerleading squad outside his stretch limousine.

The other finalists left in competition for the "Idol" title and a record contract are David Cook and Syesha Mercado. Cook, a native of suburban Blue Springs, Mo., had his own homecoming celebration Friday in Kansas City, while Mercado was feted Bradenton, Fla.

Glens Falls is a city in Warren County, New York, United States. It is part of the Glens Falls, New York Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 14,354 at the 2000 census. The name is taken from a large waterfall in the Hudson River, located at the southern border of the city.

Inspirational Softball Team Carries Player Home

Hitting home runs wasn't Sara Tucholsky's style. In fact, in her college career, she never hit one. The Western Oregon senior wasn't really expected to though. She didn't always start and this season, she stepped up to the plate 34 times only to get 3 hits.

Late last month, all that changed.

In the second inning she stepped up to the plate with two runners on. She swung and hit the ball over the fence....a home run! It doesn't count though until you touch all four bases. But after rounding first base she realized she missed the bag. She turned around to tag it and tore her ACL. Dropping to the ground in agony, she hugged the base. In tears from pain she realized she couldn't make it around the softball diamond. She would not be credited with the home run. By rule, her team mates couldn't touch her or help her advance.

Enter Mallory Holtman. Mallory is a star player and knows what it's like to hit home runs. She's racked up quite a few. Mallory, however, plays for Central Washington...the team Sara was trying to beat. Mallory asked the umpire an unbelievable question. She asked if her team could carry Sara around the bases so the home run would count. They weren't team mates of hers so technically, they could. Mallory and shortstop Liz Wallace asked Sara if they could pick her up and that they did. They gently carried her around the diamond stopping at each base so she could touch the bag. The home run counted and Western Oregon went on to win that game 4-2. Three of those runs credited to Sara with a huge assist from Mallory and Liz.

Ivory Watts' Mother Needs Your Help

After a lot of hope, Ivory Watt's mother is looking for your help in dealing with something no parent ever wants to deal with. The likely loss of her daughter and the explanation to her other children. Ivory was seriously injured last year in a go-kart accident and left a quadripeligic. Despite that, there remained a glimmer of hope she would one day walk again. It wasn't long before that accident, her father passed away. Today, Samantha, Ivory's mother, posted this emotional blog:

I wonder if anyone can please tell me how to say bye, I don't mean a simple bye like I will see u later-but a forever bye. I was told to prepare three of my children and myself to say bye to my oldest girl(Ivory). I can't seem to let my mind go there, Have n to tell them their dad(Jon Watts) had gone to b with jesus was the hardest thing that i have ever done n my life. I now know life is 2 short a special to let it go by have n regrets, U never really know how much 1 person really means 2 u until they r gone r how much they will b missed. I dont think i will ever find the words to say bye to my hero(Ivory). She's truly a blessing from God. She's still smilling after all this! I have to know she will pull through all this, but da thought is still there.

Taipei (traditional Chinese; simplified Chinese; Hanyu Pinyin: Táiběi Shì; Tongyong Pinyin: Táiběi Shìh, Taiwanese Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Tâi-pak-chhī; Zhuyin Fuhao has been the capital of the Republic of China (ROC) since 1949 and is the largest city in Taiwan. It is situated on the Tanshui River, almost at the northern tip of the country, about 25 km southwest of Keelung, which is its port on the Pacific Ocean. Another coastal city, Tanshui, is about 20 km northwest at the river's mouth on the Taiwan Strait.

Taipei lies in the relatively narrow, bowl-shaped valley of the Tanshui and two of its main tributaries, the Chilung and Hsintien rivers. The generally low-lying terrain of the central areas on the western side of the municipality slopes upward to the south and east and especially to the north, where it reaches 1,120 metres at Mount Chihsing. Festivities and events

Many yearly festivals are held in Taipei, including the Taipei Lantern Festival and Double Ten Day. Common locations for festival celebrations include Memorial Square, Taipei 101, and the Zhongshan plaza in Xinmending. In recent years some festivals traditionally held in Taipei, such as the Double Ten Day fireworks and concerts, have increasingly been hosted by other cities in Taiwan.
